Live-In Care in Leicestershire | 24-Hour Support at Home
Stay independent in your own home with dedicated live-in care. Your personal carer lives with you, providing round-the-clock support, companionship and peace of mind for you and your family across Market Harborough and Leicestershire.
What is Live-In Care?
Live-in care provides you or your loved one with a dedicated carer who lives in your home and is available around the clock to provide support, companionship and reassurance. It's an alternative to residential care that allows you to remain in familiar surroundings with one-to-one attention tailored entirely to your needs.
Your live-in carer becomes part of the household, helping with all aspects of daily life – from personal care and meals to medication, housekeeping and simply being there for a chat or a cup of tea. They support you to maintain your routines, hobbies and social connections while providing peace of mind that help is always on hand should you need it.
Live-in care is particularly suitable for people who need regular support throughout the day and night, those living with dementia or complex health conditions, couples who want to stay together at home, or anyone who values the consistency and companionship of having the same carer present 24/7.
Xcel Homes carefully matches live-in carers to your personality, interests and care requirements, ensuring a good relationship that feels natural rather than institutional. We serve families across Market Harborough, Leicester and Leicestershire who want to avoid care home placement whilst receiving comprehensive support at home.

How Xcel Homes Live-In Care Works
Free Home Assessment
Our care coordinator visits you at home to discuss your needs, routines, preferences and home environment. We assess what level of support is needed and whether live-in care is the right solution.
Carer Matching
We carefully match you with experienced carers who suit your personality, interests and care needs. We typically arrange for two carers who alternate weekly or fortnightly to ensure continuity and prevent carer fatigue.
Introduction & Start Date
Before care begins, we introduce you to your carers so you can meet them, ask questions and feel comfortable. Your carer moves in on the agreed start date with their belongings and settles into your home.
Ongoing Support & Reviews
We stay in close contact, with regular care reviews (usually monthly initially, then quarterly) to ensure you're happy and adapt the care plan as needs change. Our 24/7 on-call team is always available.

Living Arrangements for Your Carer
For live-in care to work well, your carer needs suitable accommodation within your home. Here's what's typically required:
Private Bedroom
Own bedroom with bed, wardrobe and heating. Ideally on the same floor as the person receiving care. Privacy and comfortable rest space.
Bathroom Access
Access to bathroom facilities. Shared is fine, or own bathroom if available.
Kitchen & Meals
Use of kitchen to prepare meals. Eating meals together or separately based on preference. Carer provides own food or household covers costs (discussed in advance).
Living Spaces
Access to living areas during breaks. Comfortable chair or quiet space for carer's rest periods.
Carer Rest Periods
Approximately 2 hours' break during the day (usually afternoon). 8 hours' sleep at night (unless active night care is needed). Time off-duty to rest, relax or go out briefly.
Note: If you need continuous active care through the night, we recommend two live-in carers (24-hour active care) or combining live-in care with visiting night carers.
Carer Rotation for Sustainable Care
To ensure your carers remain well-rested and able to provide excellent care, we typically arrange for two carers who alternate on a regular basis. Common rotation patterns include:
Weekly Rotation
Carer A works 7 days, then Carer B works 7 days
Benefits: Regular, predictable schedule; carers stay fresh and engaged
Two-Week Rotation
Carer A works 14 days, then Carer B works 14 days
Benefits: Longer continuity periods; suits people who need more time to build rapport
Custom Arrangement
Tailored rotation based on your preferences and carer availability
Benefits: Adaptable to your specific needs and carer schedules

What Families Say About Our Live-In Care
"After Mum's stroke, we knew she couldn't manage alone but she was adamant about staying in her own home. Xcel's live-in care has been a godsend. Her carer, Jane, is wonderful – so patient and caring. Mum's made remarkable progress and she's happy, which is all that matters. We couldn't have achieved this with visiting care."
Michael R.
Son of live-in care client
Market Harborough
"Dad has advanced dementia and needs support around the clock. His live-in carer has become like family – she understands his routines, knows how to calm him when he's anxious, and makes sure he eats properly. The consistency has been brilliant for Dad. It's expensive, but so much better value than a care home where he'd get far less attention."
Lisa P.
Daughter of dementia care client
Leicester
"My husband and I both need care but wanted to stay together at home. Our live-in carer helps us both – mornings, meals, medication, everything. She's lovely company too. The two carers who alternate are both brilliant. We feel safe and cared for, and we're still in our own home with our dog. Perfect solution for us."
